My daughter has recently been through the cancer journey, and we learnt about Giddo’s Gift through our social worker. Giddo’s allowed Amber to smile when times were tough, surprising her with a Lego gift and an amazing Christmas bag. They allowed us as a family to have an amazing, stress-free getaway away from hospital stays, which was really important.

I wanted to get involved with Team Giddo to give back and to help give to families what they gave to mine. During the hardest times, they have put a smile on my daughter’s face as well as her sister’s and mine. They have allowed us to have happy memories during a difficult period, surprising Amber with her dream Lego, a Christmas bag of amazing gifts, and an amazing breakaway from hospital life.

Since Amber’s diagnosis, I’ve been determined to give back and help other families in the same situation. I’ve seen and felt what Giddo’s does, so to be able to be part of that is amazing.

I can’t wait to get involved with helping promote and deliver all the amazing events Giddo’s holds, and raising awareness of what Giddo’s is all about and what they do for all children and young people going through cancer.

I’m hoping I can bring fresh ideas to the team whilst also helping with their current and ongoing events. I’m hoping my lived experience will help when thinking of new fundraising events and being a voice for children and young adults in what they need during their cancer journey.

When I have some free time, I love to run and keep fit, completing eight marathons including London three times. We also love to spend time as a family going on days out and theatre trips.

I feel honoured being a part of Team Giddo, and I’m looking forward to working with the charity, raising awareness and funds to enable Giddo’s to continue their amazing work, and hoping my lived experience will contribute to new ideas.
