Christmas is fast approaching – how is it less than 8 weeks away?! Many of us look forward to time spent with family, festive meals, and the joy of exchanging gifts the comfort of our twinkly, cosy homes.
But for some children, teenagers, and young adults, Christmas will look a lot different this year. Because cancer doesn’t stop for any season. This year alone, hundreds of children and young people across the UK will be spending what should be the most wonderful time of the year on a hospital ward undergoing treatment, and facing battles that no one should have to endure.
No one should miss out on the magic of Christmas. One of our biggest missions as a charity is to keep spreading joy, hope, and laughter, just like our hero Jord did all his life. And we’re determined to go the extra mile for Christmas to put smiles on people’s faces.
How can I help?
We are calling on our amazing community to help us fill gift bags for these brave children and young people who will be spending Christmas in the six hospital wards we support: Glan Clwyd, Bangor Hospital, Wrexham Maelor, Alder Hey, Clatterbridge, and the Countess of Chester.
Your generous donations will bring a smile to the faces of young patients ranging from 0 to 24 years old, highlighting that there is hope for themselves and their families.
What We’re Looking For:
We’re aiming to create thoughtful and fun gift bags filled with a variety of items that will brighten their day. When you’re doing your Christmas shopping this year, please consider picking up an extra gift including any of the following:
- Pyjamas (all sizes from baby to young adult)
- Socks (warm and cosy for all ages)
- Toys (for all age groups)
- Games (for all age groups)
- Craft kits and cards (to keep little hands busy)
- Toiletries (gentle products suitable for young skin, smellies, or anything a teenager would love!)
- Chocolate (sweets for the sweethearts)
Every gift, no matter how small, can make a huge difference to these young people.
How You Can Donate:
We truly appreciate your support, so we’ve made it as easy as possible for you to get involved! You can either:
- Drop off your donations Candid Cards on Flint High Street, open 9am-5pm, Mon-Sat)
- Drop off your donations at our office (Giddo’s Gift, Enterprise House, Aber Road, CH6 5EX, where there will be a big ‘Giddo’s Box’ in the foyer, open 7.30am-5pm Mon-Fri.

Our team of dedicated Giddo’s elves will work tirelessly throughout December to carefully sort, pack, and deliver the gifts to each hospital ward.
Why it matters
For many families, it’s a time of anxiety and stress. A simple gift can bring a moment of happiness, reminding these children that they are not alone, that the community cares about them, and that even in the darkest of times, there is light and hope.
No child deserves to spend Christmas Day in the hospital, and while we can’t change their circumstances, together we can make a difference by bringing a smile to their faces and joy to their hearts.
