I want to support those who are less fortunate than others, hopefully making their awful experience that little bit better. I know Gid would be amazed by the charity, and speechless due to the amount of close friends/family who support the charity.
I am a secondary school teacher, and often reflect on all those high school moments Jord missed out on due to appointments, illness and treatment. I will forever be amazed oat Giddo’s strength – always with a smile on his face, caring for others, despite what he was going through. I will forever be inspired by his resilience, which has shaped who I am today.
What will you personally bring to the charity?
I have taken part in numerous challenges to raise money for the charity, and I am always looking for new challenges for myself and others. Myself and some of Gid’s friends have completed; a 26mile walk, 15K Tough Mudder, Snowdon Night Walk and Run for Giddo challenge to raise money & awareness for Giddo’s Gift. Giddo’s Golf Day was a success which Brady, Peter and I organised, raising £2500 – hoping to increase that number in 2025.
I have some great links within the community which I’m hoping to use to create awareness for the charity, raising as much as possible, helping those who need.
What skills would you like us to help you develop whilst in the role?
Event organising is something I often do at work, but it is something I’d like to develop as it’s much different discussing events, gifts & financial grants with hospitals, social clubs, bars, pubs etc. Being a part of an amazing team like Giddo’s Gift you can learn so much from each other, which I’m excited to learn from others involved. Dropping off a fantastic amount of Christmas gift to various hospitals was an eye opener for me, as it highlighted the amount of time, care and effort Mandy and the rest of the charity put in all year round.
